Community Conversations

During Epiphany we celebrate the light Christ brings to the world. This year, please join Episcopalians across Western Washington in a special effort to shine Christ’s light into our neighborhoods.

Every church is rooted in its community. As we are called to “let our light shine in the world,” it is important to know what is happening outside our walls. This Epiphany, we are beginning a Diocesan-wide project to listen and learn from our neighbors.

We invite church members to talk with people in their communities about critical challenges and needs. What you hear may help your church join hands with neighbors and respond in tangible ways. What you learn will also help the diocese discern a vital mission for the future.

We are calling this the Community Conversation Project. First introduced at the 2013 Convention, every church was sent with a packet of information, also available here.

Use the form below to submit your responses, what you found, and how you saw the experience.

  1. Just participating in the conversation makes me feel hopeful.

  2. Our Vestry shared their conversations earlier this week, which inspired me to do mine. It actually grew naturally our of a coffee break conversation. I was struck by a lot of overlap in the descriptions of our local issues, from a lack of what was variously described as community self esteem, courtesy, integrity, intellectual vibrancy, compassion and hope.

  3. Thank you both for participating in the conversations! It's wonderful to know that people are trying them.
